Foley

So i just made my own cause i couldn't find the one you sent. So i enjoyed this a lot but more because of how funny it was than making the sounds itself. The sounds fit but i do not think it was a fun process . Making the voice overs was. What i did was film my clip on my iphone and go home and watch it and try to match noses with it. I like how it came out besides the car glass breaking. I didn't have enough free glass to break. I had like one of the houses shot glasses and that wasn't big enough to make the noise i wanted. I overlapped the sound but it was still not the best. I loved the squeaky noises i made and how innocent i made the scene even though the kids are being attacked by a dinosaur. The dinosaur doesn't want to eat them, he just wants to play and tickle them.. They were expecting him too. Bert, oh Bert how u are a better parent then the man who doesn't try to help his own children getting attacked by a freaking dinosaur.

Animation

Describe a challenge (or set of challenges) you faced in planning for your sequence.
Well I just needed to Create a funny little cow pawing his foot, not to many problems.

How did you meet the challenge?
I used the magazines you gave us in class and found multiple cows on the internet.

Describe your rationale for animating what you animated, and for using the method (stop frame vs cut paper vs handdrawn vs rotoscope etc) you chose.
I chose the cut paper method because i felt like it was good to just move the cows feet back and forth and it seemed easy.

What was the best part of the project? The worst?

The best part of the project was animating, the worst part was editing which i usually like.

Screen Treatment

Moon Walkers Don’t never go home
As a child Juan solo walked on the moon. Ever since hes gotten back, the world has never been the same. The ground is boring, hes pissed all the time, hes issing something. The moon. Realistically he will never return to it. This dilemma is stopping him from trying anything he does. He has post dramatic relief symptoms, where he has visions of being back on the moon. He feels departed from the world, and so different. Just stares at the moon all day. He gets into trouble when he has a vision in the wrong place and the police arrest him. He lands in a psych ward. While in the psych ward on drugs, his mom visits him. Only to tell him he was never on the moon as a child.

Memory’s of Juan on the moon as a child takes him back to the best times of his 24-year-old life. He remembers being on the moon and getting back on Earth. A tear falls from his face and the loud splash it makes on the ground somehow clicks him out of the dream.
He’s on a coat rack in the mall and everyone is looking at him. He slowly gets off and walks away awkwardly quick wiping the tears off his face. He rounds the corner away from the people and starts walking again.
In another store looking for some baby wipes, he comes across toothpaste. Another memory hits him.
He is back in the shuttle and he squeezes toothpaste onto a plate, puts it in the microwave and it comes out as a chicken.  Him and his space shuttle crew start chowing away and he has a giant smile on his face.
Back to reality he is chewing on toothpaste with a twisted clown smile and rubbing toothpaste on his body. A security guard tackles him and Juan is shouting out obscene fun space voyage nonsense. They arrest him and take him to the station.
In jail a few other jailies come up to him. At this point Juan is having another flashback of himself putting a space helmet on another crew member. He ends up breaking the neck of the other inmate and his hands are just shaking.
Pleading to be insane and showing a lot of insane qualities he ends up in a mental institution. Now at the mental institution he is being medicated and everything gets trippy.
His mom visits him, so sad and stressed. Juan explains how life on Earth doesn’t feel right and he misses the moon. His mom stands up and explains that he was never on the moon! After saying that she just walked away and a pin of the space voyage falls out of her purse. Dum dum dummmmmmm….

Portrait Place evaluation mannnn

What was the place you tried to portray?

My childhood happy memories and the change in that happiness as i grew up.

What details did you choose to portray about this place?

Just me going to those places and trying to remember the memories.

What changes did you make to your plan along the way? That is, how did your pre-production plan change when you filmed, and what new discoveries did you make in post-production?

Well I didn't really have a plan going into it besides the places i was going to do, and then during filming i thought of how to put it together, and this certain scene on my video wouldn't work so i just had to think oof a new idea.

Name at least one change (or more) you would like to make to your film. Why?

Better audio and maybe more planned out wording of what i said, i kind of just free-balled it.

Highlight the boxes where you feel you fit.

I remember

I remember :
  Jogging at the track together
Building a fort in the living room
  Playing cars
Letting balloons go in the air
  Letting the lanterns fly
  Learning to drive
  Getting taken care of
  The intersection
  Moving out
  Being lost
  Playing Pokemon cards
  Swimming in Blats
  Getting stabbed!!
  Watching my dad do karate
  My dad catching a hummingbird
  Climbing down a big ditch
  Walking in the sand dunes
Hanging out with my friends a lot
Me and my brother always arguing
  Playing tag
  Playing hide-n-go-seek
  Not knowing what to believe
  Being held from the truth
  Doing the wrong things purposely

I don't remember:
  Talking in elementary
  Caring when they divorced
That my sisters moved out early
Much of anything in the past

Why Don't You Dance

  1. 1.What kind of details does Carver choose to describe the “place?”
He explains where a lot of things are, but he starts off as if he is inside, which I like. Saying where things are relative to the bed then the bed is outside and it drastically changes the image you had played out in your head.
  2. 2.What do the following passages tell you about the place?
These passages tell me that it is getting later, the lights are turning on because it is turning to night, and stars could be in the sky. She is acting like she would at home. The girl sat on the bed. She pushed off her shoes and lay back. She thought she could see a star.”

“Lights came on in the houses up and down the street.”
  3. 3.Now look at the passages that you chose. How do they talk about the place? Why are they important or unimportant?
The desk was pushed against the garage door.  a few utensils were on the desk, along with a wall clock and two framed prints.  There was also in the driveway a carton with cups, glasses, and plates, each object wrapped in newspaper.

    "Kiss me," she said.
She closed her eyes.  She held him.
He said, "I'll see if anybody's home."

They drank.  They listened to the record.  And then the man put on another.
Why don't you kids dance? he decided to say, and then he said it.  "Why don't you dance?"
"I don't think so," the boy said.

The girl said, "You're not drunk."
"Well I'm drunk," the boy said.
The man turned the record over and the boy said, "I am."

"Let them watch," the girl said.
"That's right," the man said.  "They thought they'd seen everything over here.  But they haven't seen this, have they?" he said.
He felt her breath on his neck.
"I hope you like your bed," he said.
The girl closed and then opened her eyes.  She pushed her face into the man's shoulder.  She pulled the man closer.
"You must be desperate or something," she said.

I think all of these are important, I am confused about the creepy part at the end but i like how it leaves me wondering.

 Criteria: Group Movie Project

Describe your role in the production of the class movie. How did your contribution make things more efficient? How did you help make the movie better? What specific contributions did you make? Did you go above and beyond, or simply show up? Be honest.
My role in the production of the movie was actor, boom mic, and audio guy. I worked the boom and audio by myself at the same time on the last day because no one else would. I Improved a lot when i had my scenes, which i thought was funny. I tried to act my best and i tried not to fool around too much, but its hard with such fun props. I think I tried a fair amount.

Describe one or more things you learned about the writing process that you did not know before working on this project.
Well I liked how we all threw in our ideas for the script and then mashed them all together. I didnt know we could all type at the same time on the same document, that was pretty cool.

Describe one or more things you learned about the production (filming) process that you did not know before working on this project.
I did not know at all how to work the boom mic or where to point it, I thought that was pretty fun. I learned how to work the audio and I did not let it hit 0. I learned about lighting and how many shots we should take in one scene. I learned how difficult the editing process is, especially if it was a full length movie.

Describe one or more things you learned about the post-production (editing, sound, etc.) process that you did not know before working on this project.
I learned a lot about the editing techniques of final cut, which i feel like every time I see Mr. Aumiller work final cut i see new stuff going on. I do not know however how he is going to insert the boom mics sound into the video later.

Are you satisfied with the final product? Why or why not? Be honest.
I am content with the final product, not every one was serious the whole time but we did get work done. It is not a garbage film but it is not a great one either. I could see an audience member getting confused while watching our film, but I can see them laughing as well. I liked the experience but some people in this room I never want to do a video with ever again... ha.. haha.. yea...

Suggest one improvement for next year’s class. What could I do to make it easier/better/more informative/more fun?
I think that everything you did was good, it is just the effort that the class wants to put in and how creative they are.

What is Creativity?

Creativity is the edge lines of a box and outwards. In other words creativity is thinking outside the box. Every second i believe that box is getting bigger and bigger and it is getting harder to think outside the box, but not that hard. You just cant be afraid and limit yourself to the confinements of that box. Now how far you keep heading outwards of that box is how creative you get. Maybe at the end of your finished artwork, only a few, or nobody really understands it. Maybe thats what you're looking for. Maybe you want to just take a step or two outside the box and keep a hold of the audience, maybe you don't, but if you are willing to take even that one step, you are being a creative artist.

Now just because most people do not understand your artwork does not always mean it is creative. It could be a giant lump of turd people tilt their head to try and understand and just get a knot in their neck. Sometimes you will even try hard to be creative and people still think your art is crap, but don't let that stop you, but don't force yourself to be creative, let creativity come to you. Let the weird idea pop in your mind and make yourself laugh or be wowed. If your wowed by an idea, you can most likely have pretty solid work of art.

What is the box? well the box is the standard thinking for most people. The normal state of thinking that results in similar looking works of art. now say there's a rubber band in this box. That's your brain. Thinking creatively might require you to stretch that rubber band outside the penitentiary of the box. It might seem challenging at first but the more you do it the better you will get at it, the stretchier your mind, or rubber band will stretch. Creativity are the thoughts that come out of your head, either in story, picture, painting, drawing, or structural form. It might come out in none of those forms, a thought of your own that doesn't make much sense to people, but it makes sense to you. Outside of the overgrown box, in the widely stretched rubber band.
